About This Project
The Farmhouse is the first project by BKS Design & Build. It is a traditional Farmhouse with white exterior, metal roofs and rustic wood accents. The entire main level is ornately designed with rustic timber beams and columns. BKS installed every inch of the timber work and completed the install of the great room fireplace. The great room fireplace stands two stories tall and is clad with rustic timbers, a concrete surround and a custom formed concrete hearth with wood storage. Please follow the Design & Build story of The Farmhouse as we develop custom details like retro appliances, a man cave and a barn garage.
The garage is designed to mimic an old Hay Barn complete with a cupola and hay loft prow.
BKS Design & Build
BKS has the team to complete your home design. BKS insures that your project transitions from design to construction seamlessly by providing both services under the same roof.
It might be -3 degrees out but we are getting some work done! The exterior is transforming.
Rustic Reclaimed Timbers
Every inch of these timbers will find their way into the interior and exterior of the Farmhouse.
BKS milled these timbers with a chainsaw and used a hand plane to transform a glulam beam into a rustic timber.
Had a tough time getting a mill to cut these huge timber beams in half. So BKS grabbed some tools.
This real-wood fireplace will be wrapped with rustic timbers and a custom concrete hearth.
Rustic Barn Wood Fireplace
3" x 12" Rustic Barn Wood Beams crawl up the two story fireplace in the great room.
Custom Formed Concrete Hearth
Built and poured this custom form work for a concrete hearth and surround.
It's the middle of the Winter and the fireplace is done. Start a fire in there, I'm getting cold.
Every last detail, down to the stitching, was taken under consideration for perfection.
Vintage Master Bath
The Master Bath includes a custom barn door leading into the walk-in-closet. The rustic barn wood boards were chosen with remnants of white paint to match marble floors and a vintage claw-foot tub.
Overlooking It All
From this view, every bit of the natural light that fills this house can be enjoyed.
3D Printed Hardware
Couldn't find hardware to mount a sliding door rail to the wall. So I had my company, Form'd, 3D Print this mount in black acrylic. I'm excited to see 3D Printing and Architecture working together.
The Farm Kitchen
All the elements that make of this kitchen really came together to create a beautiful old farm look with a clean, luxurious setting.
Full-height Cabinet Door
These white cabinets came with a top and bottom cabinet for the pantry. My clients wanted a door that was full-height instead. So we were credited the stock doors and I built them a large pantry door out of barn wood with white painted accents.
Simple is sometimes better. Barn table with bench seats add so much to bring the area together.
